Lynne Twitchell-Hammett

I’m deeply saddened to report that Lynne Twitchell (Hammett) passed away last night.

Since she was put in intensive care last week, members of the bridge of ASMBYC have regularly visited her but at no time did she regain consciousness.

Lynne was a devoted volunteer to ASMBYC and has been the Opening Day chair probably since the position was created. She has helped countless Commodores and Bridges of ASMBYC  for so many years. She has managed the Calendar ads that have been the financial life blood of ASMBYC. This year marked her final year as ASMBYC Installation chair. Previously she was the Commodore of Windjammers YC. For her many years of service she had received the ASMBYC David Poe Service Award.

Beyond all the work that she has done as a volunteer, she had been a friend to all of us. She knew so many people in our yachting activities from juniors to seniors and kept in touch with the community even as she was kept in a wheelchair and immobile for several years.

Our heartfelt prayers are offered to her.

Lynne’s brother is flying here from the east coast and we will keep everyone informed of funeral arrangements.

With Deepest Regret,

Roberto Cordero

Sport Boat Fleet

Viper 830

Viper 830

The Sport Boat Fleet is growing with new boats showing up! Latest boats include an Ultimate 20, a Viper 640 and Open 6.50. Below is a suggested racing calendar. The idea is we focus on a limited number of events and ask for our own start. This ensures “like-kind” racing so the PHRF ratings we use will work better.

We are building an A and B Sport Boat Fleet. The A fleet consists of boats rating 60 and below, i.e., the FT10, Melges 30/32, Martin 243, Mumm/Farr 30, Viper 830, etc. The B fleet consists of J-80s, Open 6.50, SR 25, Ultimate 20, Viper 640, Melges 24, etc.

A Sprit Fleet has nearly enough boats to organize and includes the B-29, Beneteau 10R, J-92, J-100. 105, 109, etc. If you would like to organize these boats, just let me know at the below email address and speak to the other owners about this.

For the events you would like to participate in, please email me (jerry@tdwireless.com) and I will keep a list, email others to participate and contact the host club for a start, separate scoring, or whatever we can arrange to enjoy a value-added racing experience.
